Wellness and Illness Policy
To aid in preventing the spread of illness at the studio, I ask students to wash or sanitize their hands before their piano lesson and use general good hygiene at lessons.
If students have to miss school due to sickness or feel unwell, I ask that they do not come to class until they feel well again. Sick make-up lessons can take place virtually at the normal lesson time or at a later date that works for student and teacher.
Tardiness & Missed Classes
Students are expected to be on time for their lesson each week.
Please make our piano lesson time a priority and do not schedule appointments that will conflict with our scheduled piano time. If you do have to plan something during class time, please let me know at the beginning of the month, when making payment for . You will not be charged for missed classes if you give timely notice.
In the case of illness or family emergency, please let me know your situation by text or phone call. I am happy to re-schedule your class in cases of illness or family emergency. If I am sick or have an emergency, I will also let you know as soon as I can and we will schedule a make-up or refund the fees for any missed classes.
Books & Materials
The student/parent is responsible for purchasing all books for piano lessons. At times, I may purchase a book and the student/parent may reimburse me.
Daily Home Practice
To be successful with piano, students must practice at home several times during the week. Beginning students should practice each assigned song 3-6 times per day. More advanced students will learn effective practice techniques at the lesson and given practice assignments that will help them use their practice time well.
Students are expected to complete all their theory or composition assignments and bring them to class.
To be successful in your piano learning, you must have a piano at home in good condition. Having a piano that sounds good when you play is more fun & motivating to play! You will need to have an acoustic piano that is in tune or an electronic keyboard that has weighted keys AND is touch sensitive. Please reach out to me if you would like help in choosing a good piano or keyboard.
Students’ fingernails must be kept short in order to play with good technique.
